Kareem Braxton brings a unique combination of education, clinical training, and decades of direct experience working with families navigating custody and parenting time challenges. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. Since 2004, Kareem has worked in the family court system, providing services to families experiencing significant conflict related to custody, parenting time, and family restructuring. In addition to his work within the court system, he also provides private services, including custody evaluations, parenting consultant services, mediations, co-parent coaching, and therapeutic support.
Kareem has received extensive training in areas critical to family law and mental health, including domestic violence, trauma, child development, attachment, and high-conflict dynamics. He has worked with families dealing with a wide range of complex issues such as mental health disorders, chemical dependency, emotional abuse, coercive control, and parent-child contact problems.
Kareem understands the emotional toll that custody disputes and family transitions can take on both parents and children. He is committed to helping families make realistic and healthy adjustments that reduce conflict and support children’s emotional and developmental needs. His work emphasizes practical, developmentally informed solutions that protect the child’s best interests while helping parents move toward more cooperative and sustainable co-parenting relationships.
While children’s well-being is always Kareem’s central focus, he also recognizes the emotional strain that legal processes place on parents. In his evaluative, therapeutic, and coaching roles, Kareem works with families to clarify goals, reduce barriers to resolution, and foster healthier parent-child relationships.
Kareem is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) at both the national level and through its Minnesota and Arizona state chapters.
